Involvement with the Phoenix
My partner has been a Phoenix member since the 90’s, and I have been involved in way or the other during this time as a willing (mostly!) volunteer.
In 2008 I was invited to deliver a Strategy workshop with studio members and trustees, where we explored the possible Vision and Mission for the Phoenix.
Involvement with the Arts
A business coach for the Creative Lead programme (an Arts and Business/UCA project). Previously on the board of Creative Future, a Charity that advises and supports marginalised artists and writers. For three years I sponsored and provided a gallery space for ‘The Space’ photographic exhibitions at my company office in Hove, working in collaboration with Brighton Photo Fringe.
Career
After graduating at Brighton Polytechnic in Accounting and Finance, my career began as a Management Accountant with Parker Pen and then Financial Controller for a division of The Body Shop International. I then moved into education and headed up business related courses for adults at Sussex Downs College.
Mentoring
As a result of personal involvement in a number of community enterprise projects Mentor Ltd has been awarded the ‘CommunityMark’, an award from Business in the Community (BCP).
What do I bring to Phoenix Brighton?
Since 2004 as Director and owner of Mentor, I have advised and supported start- up businesses and growing SME’s both in the UK and in Europe. My core skills are Business Planning and Financial Management. http://www.mentorconsultancy.co.uk/our_clients.html
With my business and commercial acumen I look forward to supporting the Phoenix with the exciting development plans of for the building and day to day activities.
